Thank you, thank you to the lovely Matthew of WHSmith Travel who told The Bookseller magazine that The Personal Shopper was one of his favourite books out in July! He thinks it’s ‘stylish and funny’, bless him.

Meanwhile, I definitely have the feeling that I’m heading at increasing speed towards summer meltdown (and no, obviously I’m not talking about the weather in Glasgow, which has maintained a steady 16 degrees and light drizzle ever since the beginning of May).

I’m trying to edit the book I’m currently working on and launch The Personal Shopper before the outbreak of the seven week long school summer holidays. But somehow I have to fit in all sorts of summer term events along the way: nursery sports day, P.1 induction days, school sports day, school garden party, school summer concerts... I am just about spending as much time at school/ nursery as my children.

Throw in the redecoration of my (delapidated) new home, not to mention the booking of the family summer tour of France, and yes, you can maybe understand why I’m running round like a headless chicken!
